Sen. Moore Seeks Applicants for Openings on MA Commission on Status of Women

Monday, October 07, 2019

Senator Michael Moore

Senator Michael Moore is calling for applications from those who are interested in serving on the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW).

The commission is tasked with reviewing the status of women and girls in the state, and to offer recommendations to improve equality.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to have a positive impact on public policy and programming that will better the lives of women. The Commission engages in transformative advocacy efforts that achieve continued progress and increased equality. I encourage interested residents to contribute their time, experiences and talents to serve in this volunteer capacity,” said Moore.

A total of 19 state Commissioners are appointed by various authorities including the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Senate President, and the Caucus of Women Legislators “Caucus”.

The Caucus is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies.

Interested applicants are asked to submit a copy of their resume and a letter of intent to [email protected] by Monday, November 4 at 9 a.m. for appointment consideration.

The Commission

The MCSW was established by the state legislature and studies, reviews, and reports on the status of women and girls throughout the Commonwealth.

The Commission serves as a liaison between the public, organizations, and the government.

The Commission hosts four public hearings throughout the Commonwealth soliciting on the ground feedback from residents and local service providers.

Commissioners are expected to commit to meeting attendance, participation, and collaboration with fellow members of the Commission.
