UPDATED: Telegram Sold for Third Time in 14 Months

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette has been sold yet again.  It was purchased in May by Halifax Media Group of Daytona Beach, FL. The new owners are GateHouse Media's acquisition parent company which purchased the Providence Journal this year.

Now, the Telegram is sold again just months after the Halifax purchase and implemented dramatic cuts.

On Wednesday, Governor Deval Patrick proposed cuts across Massachusetts totaling $329 million to close state budget gaps. $25.5 million will be cut from local aid.

Stephen Abraham, Worcester County Register of Probate said, “They have to be very careful as to where those cuts are made because it will impact people’s lives in a very serious way.”

MA Added 1,200 Jobs in October of 2014

The Executive office of Labor and Workforce development announced that estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that Massachusetts has added 1,200 jobs in the month of October. Bringing the total number of jobs to 3,434,600 while the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.0 percent.
