2019 Sundance Film Festival Shorts Tour at Park View Room

The 2019 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour is a 97-minute theatrical program of seven short films selected from this year’s Festival, widely considered the premier showcase for short films and the launchpad for many now-prominent independent filmmakers for more than 30 years.

Including fiction, documentary, and animation from around the world, the 2019 program offers new audiences a taste of what the Festival offers, from sharply-written comedy and drama to edgy genre and an intimate family saga.

Jazz at Sunset featuring Dwight & Nicole at Hanover Theatre

Dwight & Nicole is an American indie-soul band fronted by Dwight Ritcher & Nicole Nelson. Ritcher and Nelson met in Boston when they were both just out of school and cutting their teeth on the local club scene.

They discovered a shared love of classic blues greats like Albert King and Lighting Hopkins, covering songs by their vocal heroes Mavis Staples, Jimmy Witherspoon, and Etta James. All the while obsessing over writing, and honing their own original music.

Waiting Opening reception at Worcester Pop Up

A self-reflective look at the “the American dream. Waiting, is a photography exhibit exploring the millennial generation’s delayed transition between adolescence and adulthood.

”Post recession Recent graduates and newly minted “adults” found themselves delaying “adult life” by spend longer in school accruing debt, and putting off major life decisions such as buying a home or getting married. A general sense of uncertainty and waiting for the American dream, but that dream felt far away in economic climate of the late 2000’s early 2010’s economic climate, laden with debt from our education and complicated by a lack of employment.

Full time, stable employment, affordable healthcare, and a retirement plan were once reasonable expectations. However, these things are no longer guaranteed.

Family Yoga at Roosevelt Branch: Session 2

Join Ivy Child International in a fun-filled yoga and mindfulness series featuring guided meditation, breathing techniques, and other mindfulness exercises. Sessions are free and open to the public.

Mass Pirates vs Jacksonville Sharks at DCU Center

The Massachusetts Pirates return to the DCU Center to host the Jacksonville Sharks on Saturday night.

The Pirates enter the contest on a six-game winning streak and in third place with a record of 7-4.

The Sharks are in first place with a record of 10-1.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Visions of Design: Parallels in Mid-Century Modern and Shaker Furniture at Fruitlands Museum

Visions of Design presents parallels found in Shaker furniture and Mid-century Modern furniture, with pieces drawn from Fruitlands Museum’s Shaker collection and from Field Farm in Williamstown, former home of avid modern art and furniture collectors Lawrence and Eleanor Pamedo Bloedel, which is now a six-room Bed and Breakfast.

Worcester Windows "Unwoven Journeys Exhibit" 

Pieces from UnWoven Journeys were on display at the Worcester PopUp in June of 2019.

Multiple pieces from the show will be displayed at City Hall, Brew on the Grid, WICN Radio, The Worcester PopUp, and The Hanover Theatre as a part of the Worcester Windows program.

Additional artists included in UnWoven Journeys exhibition are Sara & Susi Ryan, Bradley Chapman, Hiveen & Edris, Nir & Sheila Lutz, Christopher G. King, Donna Hamil Talman, Patrisiya, Hungma, Dhan & Sheila Lutz, Claribel & Sheila Lutz, Nir & Christle Rawlins-Jackson, and Toran created Bi Maya.

Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra "Magically Mozart" Concert at Institute Park

The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra presents an admission-free concert entitled "Magically Mozart" at Worcester's Institute Park. 

The concert will feature the music of the genius composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his contemporaries. Selections include repertoire from Mozart's later symphonies, as well as his overtures to the Magic Flute,  the Marriage of Figaro, and Lucio Silla. Featured soloist will be John Fullam, former MSO and Buffalo Philharmonic first clarinetist.

The event begins at 7 p.m.
