Worcester Police Catch Suspects in Home Invasion Off Shrewsbury Street

Worcester Police officers have caught two men responsible for a home invasion off of Shrewsbury Street earlier this week. 

Following an investigation of a home invasion on Plum Street late Monday night, Worcester Police detectives obtained the identities of the two suspect's responsible. Joshua Zavala-Castro, 19-years-old of 47 Park Terrace Road, Worcester and Cristian Carasquillo, 18-years-old of 47 Lafayette Street, Worcester were arrested on Friday afternoon on two counts of Home Invasion, two counts of Armed Robbery, Carrying a Firearm Unlawfully, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Unlawfully, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (firearm), and 2 counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (firearm).

Police spotted Carasquillo and Zavala-Castro by the intersection of Lafayette and Washington Streets. The two suspects began to run when they saw the officers. During a foot pursuit,  Zavala-Castro took out a firearm from his pants and raised the weapon towards the police. The officers took out their service weapons in defense and as a result,  Zavala-Castro discarded his weapon and continued to run. The officers were able to catch up to the two suspects and arrest them.

Zavala-Castro was additionally charged with Carrying a Firearm Unlawfully, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Unlawfully, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (firearm), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Improper Storage of a Firearm and Resisting Arrest.

Carasquillo was also additionally charged with Resisting Arrest.

Both suspects will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Tuesday, September 8.
