Hurricane Sandy has made landfall on the southern New Jersey coast. It came ashore with 90 mph winds and a massive surge of water that inundated several communities.

What’s left of Sandy is weakening slowly and moving into Pennsylvania this morning. It will eventually make its way into Upstate New York, Northern New England and Canada.

In preparation for the potential effects of Hurricane Sandy, the City of Worcester and the Red Cross have announced that a shelter will open today, October 29, 2012, beginning at 4:30 PM at Worcester Technical High School, Skyline Drive. Transportation is available to the shelter by calling (508) 798-3252.
