Sherlock is about six years old and 19 pounds. He's a doggie who needs a special someone to love him as he is. Sherlock is low key and an easy dog to care for but he does have his quirks which make finding a home for him more of a challenge. Sherlock is not good with cats.

Rocky

Rocky is an 11 year old, blind 5lb chihuahua. He is super independent and loves to explore the outdoors. He does need help with stairs and will take some time to learn new surroundings, but gets around great for a blind old man. He's great in his crate and doesn't make much noise once he is in there. 

Rocky is mostly house trained and does best when kept on a consistent schedule.

Kiki

Kiki is a 6 year old chihuahua who is about 11lbs. She can be very shy at first, but soon become a cuddle bug. Once you're on the couch with her she won't leave your side. She likes to play with other dogs, but it will take some time for her to develop trust. She might not be another dogs best friend right away, but once she feels things out she just wants to play! Kiki has an incredibly soft coat and is perfect for snuggling. She is very well behaved in her crate as well.

Buddy

Buddy is a five month old puppy who currently weighs in around 28 pounds. 
He's a mix of "we don't know what, your guess is as good as ours". He does awesome with his crate training and loves to play with other dogs. Buddy thinks he's a lap dog and loves cuddles!

A recent home of his had kids who harassed him a bit too much so he can be a little leery of kids. We feel that he can still go to a home with dog-savvy kids who are patient and kind - though a home without kids is just fine too. We fully expect adopters of Buddy to enroll in a formal training class with him to help cement the human/dog bond and to help develop Buddy into the best dog possible.

Simba

My name is Simba, and I’m looking for a quiet household to call home! I came from living with the same nice man my entire life, but when he became hospitalized for a long-term illness, he sadly had to ask Broken Tail Rescue to find me a new family. 

I am 13 years old and I weigh about 15 pounds. Though I am getting up there in age, I still have a lot of pep in my step and I am excited to be alive. If you see me you'll think, "wow, that is a dog who is happy!" Ideally though I need a home with routine, perhaps one or two owners, and no kids. I am completely housebroken and am an easy dog to have around the house. I have a history of developing bladder stones (the rescue had to have them surgically removed!) so I need to be on a prescription diet for life. I love the canned prescription food though, it's so yummy!! Due to the special food I do tend to need to go out often but if kept on a schedule and go out every 3-4 hours I do just fine and don't have accidents in the house.

Boo is a gentle 8 year old tabby who came to BTR after treatment for a uterine infection. Boo is healing well and she accepts pets even though she's a bit shy in her new surroundings. A soft touch and quiet reassurance may be the way to this petite girl's heart.

Peter

Peter is a one year old domestic long hair that is currently being fostered in Cambridge. Peter is a shy cat, who was initially brought into the rescue from a hoarding situation, so he is still learning to come out of his shell. He absolutely loves other cats, and needs a home with a friendly resident cat who can show him the ropes. 

Peter's favorite thing to do is lounge in the sun, and he will happily find a warm spot to lay in for most the day. He is very food motivated, and loves treats. While he is nervous, he has really blossomed in his foster home, and now wanders around and plays with his foster brother cat out in the open. 

Trooper

Trooper is a eight to ten year old cat who was found on the streets. This gentle guy loves to nap, spend his time looking out windows, and enjoys a good head scratch. He gets along fine with other pets as well as children.

Mr Meowgi is a handsome orange-white tabby about 2 years of age. He is a sweet guy who loves taking naps on the sofa or cozying up to you for bed. He enjoys bird watching from the window and wants to be with you in the same room or sit right on your laptop keyboard! He also loves playing with strings and feathers and gets along well with other cats.
