Worcester Public Library to Conclude Summer Programs with Harvest Party

Wednesday, September 07, 2016

The Worcester Public Library will host a Harvest Party on Thursday, September 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the Library’s Tatnuck Magnet Branch.

At the Harvest Party, students, patrons and the community will  have a chance to sample produce that has grown in the garden over the summer.

The party will conclude a summer of Library programming encouraging healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle.

“In May, we saw how much fun the children had planting the seeds,”  “Now they get to harvest their crop and enjoy the food that they grew. They get a real sense of accomplishment and, hopefully, a taste for fresh vegetables.  Not only is there an enormous health benefit, there is also an opportunity to develop eating habits they’ll keep as they grow up,” said Greg Byrne, Senior Marketing Specialist for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.

Tatnuck Magnet Branch

The Tatnuck Magnet Branch was opened in November 2013, through the generosity of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and other community partners, as part of the One City, One Library initiative.
