Sen. Warren Condemns Trump Administration for Suspending Asylum Processing in Boston

Thursday, August 22, 2019

Elizabeth Warren

United States Senator Elizabeth Warren is criticizing President Donald Trump’s administration for its decision to suspend asylum processing in Boston.

The Trump administration redirected asylum officers in Boston and Newark to the southwest border.

The decision impacts over 40,000 pending asylum applications and suspends all new applications in the Boston region.

Warren Issued the Following Statement:

"The Trump administration's recent decision to suspend processing of new asylum applications in Boston is part of its shameful campaign to prevent people fleeing violence from finding refuge in the U.S. If the Trump administration is serious about addressing the humanitarian crisis at our border, it can stop unnecessary and inhumane detention of kids and families, reverse decisions that restrict asylum claims, and invest real money in addressing the crisis in Central America.”
