St. Peter Marian to Implement Fab@School Maker Studio Program

Friday, March 23, 2018

St. Peter Marian Junior-Senior High School is joining schools across the country in implementing the Fab@School Maker Studio program.

As part of the program, St. Peter Marian will roll out FableVision Learning’s web-based digital design and fabrication program in the spring.

“Our STEM program thrives within our 21st-century skills-based instructional model. The addition of FableVision’s software, made possible by the generous Fab@School Match Grant program, will further prepare our students for our high-tech, global economy,” said school president Christopher Cummings.

The Program

Fab@School employs affordable fabrication hardware, which uses inexpensive materials such as paper and cardstock.

Designed as a flexible onramp to meaningful STEM/STEAM learning, this online software introduces an engineering process in a classroom setting. Easily adapted across grade levels, Fab@School Maker Studio tools allow for the creation of step-by-step and ready-made standards-based projects including pop-ups, working machines, buildings, boxes and packaging, wind turbines, automata, paper airplanes, speakers, model skateboard parks, and more.

“Some of the key drivers of the Fab@School STEM program initiative is around equity and access - we want to be sure all students - regardless of their zip code - have access to meaningful STEM learn that can truly change the trajectory of their academic and professional success,” shares Paul Reynolds, FableVision CEO and Reynolds Center co-founder.

The Fab@School Maker Studio program will add another level of hands-on learning to connect with the school’s growing Project Lead the Way STEM curriculum, now in its sixth consecutive year.
