Worcester Public Library is hosting a variety of events during school vacation week.
The events begin on Tuesday, December 27 and go to Saturday, December 31.
The Events
On Tuesday, December 27 the Tanglewood Marionettes will hold two presentations of “An Arabian Adventure” at 3 p.m., and again at 6 p.m.
“An Arabian Adventure” tells the story of a Persian prince who is thrown into a dungeon because of his love for a beautiful princess. Facing danger at every turn, the courageous prince must use his wits to escape the prison, defeat the diabolical Vizier, and save the princess from a tragic fate.
On Wednesday, December 28 the Children’s Room will turn into a winter wonderland for two days of Polar Express magic! Children will want to stop by for the Polar Express Event on December 28 at 6 p.m. Elf librarians host a fun-filled evening adventure featuring “all aboard” tickets for children, photo ops with our very own train conductor, and a reading of the award-winning book “The Polar Express.” Cozy up with hot cocoa and cookies, and take home your very own jingle bell. Stop by on Thursday, December 29 at 2:30 p.m. for a screening of “The Polar Express” movie! Refreshments will be served.
The fun continues on Friday, December 30 with New Year’s Eve for Little Ones from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During the Second Annual New Year’s Eve celebration for young children, children six and under are invited to experience a countdown to 2017. The event will include photos ops and photo frames, noisemakers and hats, refreshments, and lots of dancing. Dress your best and prepare for a time out on the town!

Dog Sled Tours at New England Dog Sledding

The Ocean State Curling Club has your curling fix. Hosting events and tournaments or "bonspiels" at the Veteran’s Memorial Ice Rink in Cranston, RI, the Ocean State Curling Club is a "social club for anyone interested in recreational curling." The club also offers lessons for those who want to learn the sport.

Ice Fishing
It's practically a tradition for a lot of people but ice fishing is an interesting winter experience. Head out to the ponds and see what you can get.
But be safe, it takes 4-6 inches of ice to support a person and 8-10 inches to support a vehicle.

Ice Climbing with Adventure Spirit
Burlington, Vermont
For the adventurous out there, Adventure Spirit in Vermont is your place for ice climbing. Choose from climbing at Bolton Quarry, Bristol Cliffs or even Smuggler's Notch to be lead by one of their experienced instructors. Be prepared to spend your day strenuously climbing some of nature's frozen streams and flow offs. They also offer alpine climbing and outdoor rock climbing for those who wish to fully test their limits.

Cross Country Skiing
East Bay Bike Path, Bristol to Providence RI
Grab your poles and skis and head down to the East Bay Bicycle Path for some Cross Country Skiing. Of course, you can go cross country skiing anywhere there is snow and some flat land, but the East Bay Bike Path stretches about 14 miles from Bristol to India Point Park in Providence.

Lowell Winterfest

The 16th Annual Lowell Winterfest is set to take place on February 19 and 20th.
The schedule f events includes free ice skating, an opening ceremony and a big winter carnival that the kids will simply love.
Ice Sculptures, a fire dance and a city hall lighting also highlight the festival.

Zip Line
