The Holy Cross Crusaders (12-15, 7-10 PL) defeated (11-17, 7-10) Loyola 63-60 on Wednesday night at the Hart Center. The Crusaders split the season series with Loyola and now sit in a three way tie for seventh in the Patriot League.

See the five takeaways slideshow below.

Holy Cross trailed 60-59 with 37 seconds to go after Loyola's Franz Rassman nailed two free throws. On Holy Cross's next possession Malcolm Miller drove to the hoop and got fouled sending him to line for two free throws. Miller made both to give Holy Cross the lead for good at 61-60.

Loyola failed on their next possession and Malcolm Miller went back to the free throw line and converted on two more shots to give the Crusaders their winning margin, 63-60.

Holy Cross was led by, senior, Malcolm Miller, who netted 17 points while Justin Burrell added in 11 to help Holy Cross get the win.

Loyola was led in the game by, Tyler Hubbard, who also netted 17 points.

The Crusaders wrap up the season on Saturday, February 28 when they visit Boston University. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.

The Standings

With the win, Holy Cross now moves to 7-10 in the conference play season and into a three way tie for seventh in the Patriot League with Navy and Loyola.

The Crusaders travel to Boston University (9-8) on Saturday afternoon for a 4 p.m. tip and with a win would have a chance to clinch the seventh seed with losses by Loyola and Navy and maybe sneak into sixth with a loss by Lafayette.

However, a loss and a win by Army, could potentially send Holy Cross into last place in the conference.

Patriot league games of significance for Holy Cross:

Navy vs Loyola - both tied with Crusaders, obviously one of them will lose so that's good, assuming Holy Cross wins.

Army vs Lafayette - If Lafayette loses and Holy Cross wins, Crusaders would sneak into sixth. Both teams would have same record but Holy Cross has tie breaker. American and Lafayette currently are tied but American has tie breaker.

For Holy Cross, just win and it will make things a little easier, a loss could and likely would mean trouble.

9-4

Holy Cross wraps up their home schedule with a 63-60 win over Loyola and an overall record of 9-4 at the Hart Center.

The Crusaders finish the season having won three straight and five of their last six home games.

The Crusaders went 6-3 at home during the conference play schedule and that record was a major reason why Holy Cross was able to play themselves back into contention in the Patriot League.

The Crusaders are 2-11 on the road overall this season. 1-7 in conference play, not counting the win over Harvard which was on a neutral site.

The Crusaders good home record is what has kept them alive this season but now they need a road win on Saturday against Boston University.
