Worcester Man to be Arraigned After Being Caught on Camera Breaking Into Cars at Dealership

David Latino, 60 of Worcester will be arraigned today at Worcester County District Court after he was caught breaking into cars at a car dealership on Friday.

Latino was charged with larceny over the value of $250.00 and breaking and entering into a motor vehicle with the intent to commit a felony. 

The Incident

Worcester Police responded to 253 Mill Street and the location of Mill Street motors for a reported larceny from several cars. 

Upon arrival, police met wit the owner of the business who said that the following evening someone had stolen several items from vehicles on the lot. The owner became aware of the thefts when a customer picking up a vehicle noticed that the stereo was missing. 

After the discovery, the owner checked all vehicles and noticed that one was missing a car battery while the owner was missing jewelry from his own personal vehicle that was left over night. 

Caught on Camera 

The business is equipped with security cameras. 

The owner viewed the footage and saw Latino going through vehicles at approximately 7 p.m. 

The officer was shown the footage where he observed Latino walking around the lot checking the doors to all vehicles in the lot. There were approximately 10 vehicles in the lot. The suspect entered the vehicles that were left unlocked. 

The suspect is seen making a gesture to another person not in the video, that person enters the lot in a white vehicle with specific markings on it. Latino was seen placing items in that vehicle. 

M​aking the Arrest

Employees watching the video recognized the suspect as a person that had bought a car from the business a few years ago. The employees remembered where the suspect lived because they had to deliver a car to his house. 

Officers went to the address and observed the white vehicle with the specific markings parked in front of the home. The officer encountered the male suspect outside of the residence. After a brief conversation the stolen items were recovered.
