Worcester Police Detective Seriously Injured in 3-Car Crash

Wednesday, June 05, 2019

A Worcester police detective suffered serious injuries after being involved in a three-car crash on Tuesday afternoon.

The officer's name has not been released.

Two other drivers were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Crash

According to police, the preliminary investigation showed that the officer was driving the unmarked cruiser south on Grove St approximately 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4.

A Subaru Impreza came down Chester St toward Grove St, and did not stop at the stop sign, striking the passenger’s side of the cruiser.

This collision pushed the cruiser across the yellow line onto oncoming traffic coming north on Grove St. The driver’s side of the cruiser and a Honda Civic collided.

The cruiser was severely damaged on both sides and the officer was trapped inside.

After being treated by medics, he was transported to the hospital with several injuries, including a severe eye injury. The driver of the Impreza and the driver of the Civic were also transported to the hospital.
