Malachi Alexander leads Holy Cross with 17 points

The Holy Cross Crusaders (6-6,1-0 PL) defeated the (7-7, 0-1 PL) Boston University Terriers 80-64 on Wednesday night at the Hart Center. The win earns the Crusaders just their second point in the first annual battle for the Turnpike Trophy with BU.

Holy Cross led 54-51 with 11:43 to play in the game before going on a 10-0 run to go up 64-51. Malachi Alexander scored 5 of the 10 points during the run. Boston University would get no closer than 11 points the rest of the way. 

The Terriers led at the half 40-35 but Holy Cross opened the second half on a 10-0 run over the first 3 minutes of the second half to take the lead. 

The Leaders 

Holy Cross was led by Malachi Alexander who netted 17 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the field. 

Meanwhile, freshman Karl Charles followed up with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist in the game. 

Next Up 

Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, January 2 when they travel to Navy. Tip off is set for 1 p.m.

Charles has now reached double figures scoring in four straight games for the Crusaders.
