Okey Bakassi at Mechanics Hall 

Comedian Okey Bakassi will perform his stand-up routine at Mechanics Hall in Worcester on Friday night. 

The show goes from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will also feature MC Omo, Mr. Raw of Faraw, Comedy Dr and Jai Ga.

Helmutt on the Move at Worcester Art Museum  

Helmutt is an armor-wearing boar hound statue; his armor is based on the plate dog armor of a hunting hound of Emperor Charles V. Leonard Heinrich, who was the armorer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, made Helmutts armor as a gift to John Woodman Higgins in 1942.

The exhibit is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

17th Annual ArtsWorcester Biennial 

Check out the great art at the 17th annual ArtsWorcester Biennial.

This year, the Sally R. Bishop Prize for Best In Show was given to James Dye of Worcester, for his dip pen and India ink drawing Temple of the Unburdened Host. 

As part of this prize, Dye will have a solo exhibition at the Worcester Art Museum in April of 2018. 

Gallery hours for the Seventeenth Biennial run Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 12:00 to 4:00 PM, and by appointment, through June 2.

Spring Garden Festival and Plant Sale at Worcester Common Oval 

This year’s Spring Garden Festival & Plant Sale will feature music and dance performances by Philip Alexander, The Promise is Hope, the Lion Dance Team, and Giguere Dance, and Eli Mateo with Dan Burke – among others. 

The schedule will also include a kid’s zone with face painting, bubbles, hula hooping, crafts, and an appearance by Trax, the Railers’ mascot, and live animals provided by Heifer International and MESA. 

All money raised at the event will go to support the REC’s environmental and food justice programs and employ local youth.

Hang out at WCUW for an afternoon and early evening of Bob Dylan music to celebrate his birthday. 

The celebration will feature the 524 Band featuring Bob Jordan, Brian Rost, Chip Smith and Paul Prunier.

The band will headline, and also step aside, as a number of local and regional solo performers put their own twist on the songs of Dylan.
