Archaic Avant-Garde at Worcester Art Museum

While modern and contemporary artists are known to have looked outside their immediate cultural realm to expand their sources for modern inspiration, many of them at the same time were also looking at their own culture's ancient techniques and forms.

Archaic Avant-Garde focuses on contemporary Japan's leading ceramicists who have explored and experimented with ancient Japanese pottery techniques and forms to invigorate their own modern creations.

Sleepy Hollow Experience at Old Sturbridge Village 

This year marks the 200th anniversary of the legend of Sleepy Hollow. Guests are invited to celebrate with the show that has been called "one of the country's top five Halloween plays" by American Theatre Magazine and immerse themselves in the spooky tale.

Arrive early to dine on soups, stew, and chowder in the transformed Ichabod's Tavern, or purchase sweets and libations prior to the show and during intermission. 

The Sleepy Hollow experience opens at 7:30 p.m.

Mystical creatures from fairies to elves will help Tower Hill celebrate the magic of Autumn in the Garden.

Enjoy the fall foliage, a beer garden with local fare, fairyland market, face painting by Faerie Tribe, activities and workshops for kids and adults, and much more during this fairytale weekend.

Some of the events taking place include face painting, crafts, a book sale, a nature walk, storytime and much more.

Nature Drop-in Day: Birds at Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center & Wildlife Sanctaury

Stop by our Education Center for a day full of nature activities. Enjoy self-directed themed crafts and activities. Learn how to use binoculars and make your own bird feeder.

Hear different bird calls and how to identify some common "backyard" birds that you are likely to see at your feeders. Come along for one of our guided one-hour hikes at 10 am, 12 pm or 2 pm.
