Worcester Police arrested Justin Savell of Holden after he was seen breaking into a Monroe Ave home by a witness on Tuesday.

Savell was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with the intent to commit a felony, malicious destruction of property over $250 and a possession of a burglarious tool.

The Incident

On Tuesday, June 7 at approximately 11:54 a.m., Worcester Police responded to an address on Monroe Ave for a report of a residential alarm. Prior to arrival, police were notified that a witness had observed a male run out the front door of the address.

Upon arrival, police checked the address and observed damage to the rear basement door. Police on scene spoke with the witness who observed the male running from the address. The witness provided police with an accurate description of the suspect. The witness was also able to follow the suspect for a short distance and provided police with the suspect's direction of travel.

While checking the neighborhood, officers located a male matching the description of the suspect in the area of Pleasant Street and Park Ave. The man was stopped and identified as Justin Savell,33, of Holden. Officers observed Savell to be in possession of a backpack. Inside the backpack, officers located 15 jewelry boxes, handfuls of loose jewelry, work gloves and a pry bar.

The jewelry recovered from Savell was later positively identified as being stolen from the Monroe Ave home.
