The Bromfield School takes home the second place price for GoLocalWorcester’s best high school’s in Central Massachusetts.

School Statistics

It is only one of two schools to have a perfect MCAS score for English. It is the only school in GoLocalWorcester’s top twenty list to have 99% of its students being proficient or better in math. Science seems to also be their strong suit with 96% being proficient or higher. It is a small school with only 430 students. The spending per student of $13,105 is right on par with the state average. The SAT scores are quite impressive. Students averaged a 602 in verbal,  a 594 in writing and a 610 in math.

Core Courses

Principal James O'Shea said a lot area public schools have a lot more electives.  This Harvard school claims to have very solid core courses. O'Shea said, "We teach our students to be great writers and make sure they can read critically. They can assess material and solve problems ." The strong academic program includes core courses in mathematics, English, social studies, and science, as well as music, world languages, physical education and fine and applied arts. Students in grades 9-12 fulfill graduation requirements in these core courses and may also take advantage of Advanced Placement courses. O"Shea said when you are a small school you have to pick and choose what electives to offer and make sure  you do them well!

School History

The Bromfield School is located thirty miles west of Boston in the Northeastern corner of Worcester County in the town of Harvard, Massachusetts. The Bromfield School founded in 1878 by Margaret Bromfield.
