Holy Cross Football Cruises Past Fordham 42-20

The Holy Cross Crusaders football team cruised past the Fordham Rams 42-20 on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx, New York. 

The win improves Holy Cross to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in Patriot League play. Fordham drops to 3-7 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. 

Holy Cross Cruises Past Fordham

The Crusaders grabbed a 7-0 lead with 12:34 left in the first quarter on a 61-yard fumble return by linebacker Nick McBeath, after a strip sack by defensive end Teddy Capsis. 

Fordham responded with a pair of touchdown runs by Chase Edmonds in the second quarter to take a 14-7 lead, before a 15-yard scoring run by running back Gabe Guild tied the score at 14-14 heading into the half. 

In the third quarter, Holy Cross used a 40-yard touchdown run by running back Miles Alexander and a one-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Peter Pujals to tight end Jayke Simsheuser to take a 28-14 lead. 

Pujals accounted for 257 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in the game. 

Holy Cross put the game away in the fourth quarter with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Pujals to receiver Blaise Bell and a one-yard scoring run by running back Diquan Walker. 

Fordham added a touchdown with six seconds left in the game to conclude the scoring. 

Next up 

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, November 11 when they visit Lehigh for the final game of the season. 

Kick-off is set for 12:30 p.m.
