Worcester Man Arrested After Robbing Advanced Auto Parts With Gun

Saturday, January 12, 2019

A Worcester man was arrested after robbing the Advanced Auto Parts on Millbury Street early Friday morning.

Erica Rivera, 43, was charged with armed robbery and resisting arrest.

The Incident

On January 11 at about 8:30, a Worcester Police officer was flagged down for a report of a robbery that just occurred. An officer saw a man running toward Hermon St, and received word that the man might be armed with a firearm.

Shortly after this, dispatch received a call for an armed robbery from Advanced Auto Parts at 30 Millbury St.

A description was broadcast of the suspect, and other officers located a man, later identified as Rivera of 19 King St, who matched the description.

One of the victims of the robbery had followed the suspect, and was frantically waving to the officers and saying that Rivera was the robber.

Officers told Rivera to get on the ground, and he refused. They asked him to show his hands and he refused. Fearing that he might have a weapon, they grabbed him by the arm, and he pulled away and began to struggle. After a brief struggle,  Rivera was placed in handcuffs.

Officers spoke to the victims at the Advanced Auto Parts store. They said that a man had come in and demanded money with his hands in his pocket, as if he had a firearm. The man said that he had a gun and would shoot them.

They identified Rivera as the man who robbed the store.

Money was recovered from Rivera.
