Man Arrested for Stabbing Roommate in Worcester Apartment

Worcester Police arrested a 60-year-old male suspect after he stabbed his roommate in the hand following an argument inside of a Dorchester Street apartment. 

The suspect is being charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, and attempt to commit a crime. 

The incident is considered domestic in nature and as a result, Massachusetts law does not allow for the release of the suspect's name at this time. 

The Incident 

On Thursday, July 7 at 11:53 p.m., Worcester Police were sent to a Dorchester Street apartment for a report of a stabbing. When police arrived, they observed heavy smoke within the apartment with a strong odor that something was burning. Police entered the apartment and saw four adult males in the kitchen. 

Three of the males lived in the apartment and the fourth male was the landlord. 

Police saw a 26-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to the hand. The victim informed officers that the 60-year-old suspect started to go crazy in the apartment, buying various personal objects, including a laptop, mattress, and a leather bag. 

The victim attempted to calm the suspect down and stop him fro lighting objects on fire, at which time the suspect produced a knife from his picky and slashed the victim on the hand. A third roommate was a witness to the events and corroborated the story of the victim. 

The suspect was placed under arrest. After being placed under arrest, the suspect became uncooperative, refusing to walk out of the apartment. The officers had to physically carry the suspect out of the residence and into the police car. Police were able to recover the knife used in the attack. 

The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injury.
