Man Stabbed While Trying to Break Up Fight Outside Hotel Vernon

A man was stabbed in the back while attempting to break up a fight outside the Hotel Vernon at Kelley Square.

He is suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing as no suspect has been identified.

The Incident

On September 28, at about 9:45 p.m., Worcester police officers were sent to the Hotel Vernon at Kelley Square for a report of a possible stabbing. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 24-year-old male victim, who reported that he was trying to break up a fight between members of a small group outside the bar.

During the fight, the victim was stabbed once in the lower back. The victim said that he did not know the suspects, who had taken off on foot prior to police arrival.

The victim was brought to the hospital for evaluation. The wound is not life-threatening. Members of the Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Units responded, and officers spoke with multiple witnesses.
