Two men stabbed in Worcester

Worcester Police are investigating two stabbings that took place over Memorial Day weekend in Worcester.

The first stabbing took place on Saturday in front of the Shangri-La Chinese Restaurant, while the second stabbing took place in the area of Sever Street later in the day.

Both stabbing incidents remain active, to date, there is minimal information with regard to suspect information.

The Incident

On Saturday, May 26, at approximately 2:07 a.m., a Worcester Police officer was working the bar impact detail and was passing by the Shangri-La Chinese Restaurant located at 50 Front Street. At this time the officer saw a large crowd gathering outside with a few individuals actively fighting.

As the police cruiser arrived at the scene several of the combatants fled the scene. One man was observed bleeding from his arms and head. It appears that the man had been stabbed.

Several officers arrived at the scene and searched for the others that were involved in the fight. The search provided negative results. The man was transported to a local hospital by Worcester EMS and went into emergency surgery. The victim, a 26-year-old Worcester resident, has non-life threatening injuries.

On the same day, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Worcester Police responded to Sever Street for a report of an assault with a dangerous weapon.

Arriving officers observed a 28-year-old man sitting on a sidewalk suffering from several stab wounds.

The man was conscious and alert. He refused to give his name and refused to provide any details with regard to the stabbing.

The man was treated at the scene by Worcester EMS and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The victim has non-life threatening injuries. WPD detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit arrived and canvassed the neighborhood and processed evidence.
