Webster Woman Arrested After Selling Crack Cocaine to Undercover Officer

Saturday, March 03, 2018

A Webster woman was arrested after attempting to sell crack cocaine to an undercover police officer.

Maritza Colon, 36, was charged with Possession of Class B Substance with the Intent to Distribute and Distribution of Class B Substance.

The Incident

On Thursday, March 1,  a member of the WPD Vice Squad received a tip that a woman was selling heroin in the Main South area. The vice officer was provided a cell phone number that belonged to the dealer. The suspect was later identified as Colon of 16 Lake Street, Webster.

At approximately 9:14 a.m., The undercover officer called Colon to arrange a drug purchase of heroin. A woman answered the phone and made an agreement to meet to sell crack cocaine instead. Colon directed the officer to meet in the lower Chandler Street area.

At this time, vice officers set up surveillance in the area of Chandler and Irving Streets. Once the officer was in the area a call was made by Colon. The officer was now directed to meet Colon at the BP Gas Station located at 30 Chandler Street.

Shortly afterwards the two met up at the location. Colon reached into her mouth and showed the officer two $20 dollar baggies worth of crack cocaine. The officer handed Colon two $20 dollar bills. Colon took the cash and placed it inside her bra and then handed the officer the crack cocaine.

The two parted ways. The officer gave the predetermined signal to the surrounding officers that the deal had been made.

Vice officers stopped Colon in the area of 96 Irving Street and placed her under arrest. A female officer arrived and searched Colon. The search produced a small plastic baggie that contained crack cocaine and an additional $18.00 in cash.

The drugs and cash will be turned in as evidence.
