Worcester Man Seriously Injured in Wednesday Afternoon Crash

Thursday, December 20, 2018

A Worcester man was seriously injured during a crash in the area of Ararat Street and North Frontage Road on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, the man, 45, suffered some broken bones and a concussion.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Crash

On Wednesday, December 19, at approximately 12:51 p.m., Worcester Police responded to a serious two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Ararat Street and North Frontage Road. First arriving officers saw that a male in one of the cars was trapped. Worcester Fire personnel were able freehim. The man was then stabilized at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Investigators spoke with witnesses and mapped out the crash scene. Evidence was collected and the two cars were eventually towed from the scene and secured. As part of the investigation, both cars will have a complete mechanical inspection to determine if any deficiencies may have been a contributing factor leading up to the crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2016 Isuzu truck, was traveling north on North Frontage Road. The driver of the Isuzu was a 22-year-old man from Marlborough. The passenger was a 21-year old man from Florida. At the same time a 2002 Toyota Tacoma was traveling west on Ararat Street. The driver of the Tacoma was a 45-year-old man that lives in Worcester. The two trucks impacted in the intersection of Ararat Street and North Frontage Road. There are traffic control lights at this intersection and were operational at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Tacoma was the person injured. Investigators went to the hospital and learned that the man may have suffered some broken bones and a concussion. Investigators were unable to interview the man at the time due to the treatment that he was receiving. It appears that the injuries are non-life threatening.

The two men in the Isuzu were not hurt.

This investigation is in the early stages. There have been no citations issued at this time but may change as the investigation moves forward.
