16-Year-Old Boy Shot in Worcester Christmas Eve Morning

A 16-year-old boy was shot int he leg in the area of Newbury Street early Christmas Eve morning.

Investigators were told by medical personnel that the injury is non-life threatening and will be released after treatment.

There is little suspect information at this time.

The Incident

On Sunday, December 24, at approximately 12:04 AM, Worcester Police responded to Newbury Street for a reported shooting. Responding officer’s saw several kids fleeing as police were approaching. Officers exited their cruisers and immediately located a 16-year-old male shooting victim. The victim was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim was treated at the scene by Worcester EMS and then transported to a nearby hospital.

Worcester detectives arrived at the scene and interviewed witnesses. Some investigators went to the hospital and spoke with the victim.

The victim stated that he was walking on Newbury Street and was shot by someone in a passing car. Investigators believe that the victim was being uncooperative since the information he provided conflicted with information provided by witnesses.
