Man Arrested for Possession of Heroin in Worcester

Saturday, November 18, 2017

A man was arrested for possession of heroin in the area of Main South in Worcester.

Jose Reyes, 30, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute.

The Incident

On November 16, the Worcester Police Vice Squad officers were conducting surveillance in the Main South area of the city. At about 6:30 p.m., their attention was drawn to a man, who they knew to be heroin user, waiting on a street corner in the area of King St and Shepard St. Through their training and experience, the officers believed that the man was waiting for someone to deliver heroin to him.

Shortly after they began their surveillance of the man, identified as Jose Reyes, thirty-years-old of 9 Pelham St, approached him and conducted a brief hand-to-hand exchange on Shepard St.

The officers followed Reyes and stopped him on Kingsbury St. When officers approached, Reyes attempted to place three bags of a beige powder substance, which the officers believed to be heroin, into his mouth. Reyes was unsuccessful in his attempt to swallow the bags, and he spit them on the ground. He was placed under arrest.
