Two Arrested for Distributing Heroin in Worcester

Friday, March 23, 2018

Two people were arrested during a traffic stop in Worcester for distributing heroin.

Richard Contreras, 25,  was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Class A Substance and Possession of Class E Substance.

Lydia Wiley, 24,  was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Class A Substance.

The Incident

On Thursday, March 22,  a Worcester Police officer, working out of the Operations Division, was on routine patrol in the Grafton Hill Area. At approximately 2:45 a.m., the officer was operating his marked police cruiser on Cutler Street. At this time the officer observed a Toyota Tacoma in front of him roll through the stop sign located at the intersection of Cutler Street and Dorchester Street without fully stopping.

The officer activated his emergency lights and signaled the driver to pullover and stop. The driver of the Toyota did comply and stopped by Arthur and Dorchester Streets. The officer approached the driver’s side of the Toyota and noticed that the operator was making furtive movements to his right side. The officer observed a female passenger reaching over her left side, leaning towards the driver.

The officer became suspicious of their behavior. Concerned for his safety, the officer asked for backup. Once additional officers arrived at the scene the two were asked to exit the Toyota. The driver was identified as Contreras of 19 Pine Street, Whitinsville, and the passenger was identified as Willey of 24 Simpson Street, Sturbridge.

A search of Contreras produced 12 pills in a clear glassine bag. The pills were considered a class E substance. Contreras did not have a prescription for the pills. Willey produced 3 bags of heroin from her person. A search of the interior of the Toyota produced multiple small bags of heroin. In all, officers recovered 13 small individual bags of heroin.

The Toyota was towed from the scene.
