Woman Arrested for Possession of 21 Bags of Heroin in Worcester

Monday, December 11, 2017

A Dudley woman was arrested on May Street in Worcester with possession of 21 bags heroin.

Tayralee Umana, 23, was charged with Possession of a Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute. She will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.

The Incident

On December 8, members of the Worcester Police Vice Squad were in the May Street area between Main Street and Park Ave in response to complaints about street-level drug dealing in the area. At about 11:45 a.m., vice officers saw a man pacing back and forth on Hollywood St and using his cell phone. Officers continued surveillance of the man, with whom they were familiar. The man’s behavior was consistent with that of a drug buyer waiting to meet a dealer.

The man met with a woman, later identified as Umana of Dudley, outside the 7-11 Market on Park Ave. Vice squad officers had information that Umana had heroin on her person. Umana and the man went into 7-11 together, and they exited and went their separate ways. While they were in the store, a Chrysler Pacifica pulled into the parking lot. When Umana exited the store, she immediately walked up to the Chrysler and tried to enter the car.

Officers stopped and arrested Umana.
