Bounty: Thanksgiving Traditions

Experience the traditions of an early 19th-century New England Thanksgiving at Old Sturbridge Village.

Learn about 1830s dining etiquette and watch the men of the Village compete in a post-dinner target shoot. Smell the scents of roasted turkey and pies warming by the fire. Learn about Native American food traditions and customs and hear the minister talk about the true meaning of Thanksgiving in the Village's historic Center Meetinghouse.

The event goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The film follows athletes including Tommy Moe, Kalen Thorien, Collin Collins, Lexi duPont, Marcus Caston, Seth Wescott and more as they travel the globe, by land, air, and sea, exploring the ties that bind ski culture.

Make Your Own Beer Stein at New Street Glass Studio

In one evening, you will learn about the history and process of creating blown glass at the New Street Glass Studio.

After learning the safety and studio etiquette rules, students will watch a brief demonstration of this 2000-year-old art before diving in and making their very own beer stein from glass gathered out of a 2100-degree furnace. Instructors will guide students through the steps from gathering to blowing the bubble, from shaping a cylinder to adding a handle No experience is necessary and all materials are included. 

The event goes from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
