66-Year-Old Man Stabbed in Worcester During Fight

Leandro Rodriguez, 51 of 860 Main Street was arrested after stabbing a 66-year-old man in the chest during a fight on Saturday. 

Rodriguez was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The Incident 

Worcester Police were sent to 25 Queen Street for a report of an assault with a dangerous weapon. Upon arrival, they were met by the caller who told them that there was a man in the lobby suffering from a stab wound to the chest.

Police entered the lobby and located a 66-year-old man suffering from a laceration to the chest, he appeared to be in stable condition. 

An Initial investigation revealed that the victim had been in the area of 162 Chandler Street near the corner of Chandler and Queen Streets with a group of individuals. During this time, the victim was seated in a wheelchair. Witnesses said that the suspect engaged in an argument with a women in the group.

During the argument, witnesses saw the suspect take out a knife and open it behind his back.

Without any provocation, the suspect approached the man and pressed the knife against the victim’s left chest area, causing a laceration to the victim’s chest that required stitches. The suspect then fled the scene. Witnesses at the scene were able to provide an accurate description of the suspect. 

As a result of the investigation, Police were able to identify the suspect as Leandro Rodriguez, 51, of 860 Main Street Apt. 2C. At approximately 5:30 PM, Worcester Police located Rodriguez as he was walking on Austin Street.

He was placed under arrest without incident.
