Man Shot in Stomach Inside Worcester Apartment on Tuesday Afternoon

A 31-year-old man was shot in the stomach inside his friends apartment on Oberlin street on Tuesday afternoon by a masked man who broke in. 

He is still being treated at a local hospital. He is expected to survive.

There is no more information at this time. 

The Incident 

On Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 4:15 PM, a Worcester Police officer was flagged down by a car on Main Street. Upon approach, the officer saw that a 31 year old male passenger in the car was suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

The officer told dispatch of the situation and escorted the vehicle to a local hospital. Once there, officers assisted the shooting victim into the Emergency Room. Worcester Police Detectives and Crime Scene Unit responded to the hospital to speak with the victim and collect evidence.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was visiting a freind at an apartment on Oberlin Street. While inside the apartment, a masked man entered and pulled a gun. The suspect demanded that the victim hand over a backpack containing a large quantity of marijuana. The victim complied and handed over the bag. After the victim handed the backpack to the suspect, the suspect shot the victim once in the stomach. The suspect immediately fled the scene.

Detectives responded to the Oberlin Street apartment to process the scene.
