The Incident
On Friday, September 23, 2016 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Worcester Police responded to a Pocasset Street home for a report of a break in progress. Responding officers were told by police dispatchers that two people were seen by neighbors entering the house through a bulkhead door. The caller was able to provide a description of the two. Arriving officers were told by neighbors that the two suspects were seen running off towards St. Nicholas Avenue. Officers looked into the home and noticed a portion of the home to be ransacked.
Shortly after the police arrived they received an update from dispatchers that one of the neighbors had been following the two suspects in their car and provided updated locations for them. The suspects were seen entering the woods behind St. Nicholas Avenue Elementary School.
Officers quickly responded to the school. Upon arrival at the school, police went to the rear of the building where the two suspects were seen running through the parking lot. The two were told to stop and they complied. They matched the description of the suspects.
Witnesses were brought to the rear of the school and identified the two as the ones seen entering the house. A search of the two suspects produced several items and cash that belonged to the victims.
