The Incident
On Tuesday, January 10, at 4:30 p.m., Worcester Police responded to 65 Florence Street for a report of an attempted armed carjacking that had occurred in the parking garage at Clark University.
The investigation revealed that a 58 year old woman had finished attending a conference at Clark University. The victim entered her car which was parked in the Clark University garage. While seated in the car, a young black man with a dark colored hooded jacket pulled tight around his face approached the driver’s side of the car. The suspect pointed a gun at the victim, pulled on her door, and instructed her to open it.
The victim refused to open her door and was able to start her car and started to drive away. The suspect began waiving his gun in the air. As the victim drove away, the suspect placed the gun into his waist band, then held onto her car door still attempting to gain entry as the victim drove through the garage. Once the victim arrived at the first floor of the garage, the suspect let go of the car and the victim was able to drive to a safe location and call police.
