The Incident
On Thursday, September 1, 2016 at approximately 2:08 AM, Worcester Police responded to a disturbance call on Intervale Road. This was the second call to this area. The first call was at approximately 1:30 AM. The first incident involved two females fighting. The fight was broken up prior to police arrival. At this time the first arriving officer observed a red Chevrolet Malibu drive away from the address that the officer was responding to. The officer believed that this car may have been involved in the second disturbance so he signaled the vehicle to stop. The car was stopped by Elmwood and Pleasant Streets.
The officer approached the driver. The driver was identified as Sean Racine, 19-years-old of 72 Carter Street, Worcester. Racine was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Racine appeared to be extremely nervous and fidgety as the officer questioned him. Racine stated that he was at the Intervale address to pick up his girlfriend. It was later learned that the girlfriend was involved in the earlier fight. Racine’s nervousness caused the officer to fear that he may be in possession of a weapon. As a result, Racine was asked to exit his car. The officer immediately observed a strong odor of marijuana when Racine opened the driver’s door. The officer saw several glassine baggies in the driver’s door panel. Another officer observed a rolled up marijuana cigarette placed in the middle of the shift console. Also in plain view was a box in the rear seat that contained a large amount of marijuana.
At this time Racine was placed under arrest and was searched. The search produced $1,895 in cash. The car was now searched and that resulted in the discovery of more marijuana in sealed bags along with a large amount of Xanax pills. The officers also discovered a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia to support the sales of illegal narcotics.
