Worcester Woman Injured After Jumping From Out of Control Car

A 25-year-old Worcester Woman was injured after she jumped from a moving car after the driver of the car, a  41-year-old woman lost control of her brakes and could not stop it. 

The car came to a stop on Lincoln Street when he driver was able to steer the passenger side tires into a curb. 

The injured women was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. 

The Incident 

Worcester Police were sent to the area of Orne and Lincoln Streets for a report that a woman had either jumped or been pushed from a moving car. Upon arrival, police located a 25-year-old woman who was suffering from minor injuries and abrasions.

Initial reports revealed that a 2005 Chevy Equinox was being driven by a 39-year-old woman on Orne Street. The woman was in the rear passenger seat of the Equinox, and a 41-year-old women was in the front passenger seat.

As the vehicle drove down Orne Street, the driver applied her brakes and the pedal had no resistance. The car began accelerating down Orne Street towards Lincoln Street. Both the front and rear seat passengers attempted to exit the car while it was accelerating down the hill. The driver was able to stop the front seat passenger from exiting, but the rear seat passenger jumped from the vehicle. The woman then rolled approximately 40 feet down Orne Street and came to rest in the middle of Lincoln Street.

The driver was able to steer the vehicle left onto Lincoln Street and was able to stop the vehicle by steering the passenger side tires into the granite curbing.

The woman who jumped from the vehicle was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. 

Worcester Police Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and is conducting an investigation.
