Benzan’s 15 Bench Points Not Enough, Holy Cross Falls to Bucknell 82-68

The loss drops the Crusaders to 12-13 overall and 6-6 in the Patriot League, while Bucknell improves to 19-6 overall and 11-1 in the Patriot League.
Holy Cross Falls Short
Trailing 16-6 in the first half, Holy Cross rallied with a 10-4 run to close to within four points, 20-16 midway through the half.
From that point, Bucknell went on an 11-4 run to push their lead back to double-figures and take a 48-33 lead into the half.
In the second half, Bucknell opened up as much as a 24 point lead, 73-49, with 9:14 left to play in the game.
The Crusaders would make another run, this time a 13-2 run to cut Bucknell’s lead to 75-62, but would not get any closer.
Holy Cross shot 48% from the field and 29% from three in the game, while giving up 14 fast break points.
The Leaders
Robert Champion led the Crusaders with 19 points on 9 of 19 shooting from the field.
Malachi Alexander followed up with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Benzan’s 15 points came on 6 of 7 shooting from the field.
Next up
Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, February 8 when they visit Lafayette.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
